HEIMWEEFSEL

DE MAAN / Lotte Boonstra
An interactive installation for inside and outside/ for everyone aged 2- 102 years old.

HEIMWEEFSEL (“homesick fabric”) is a woven tent that consists of separate parts that fit together perfectly.
By weaving strips of reused textiles and clothing, it becomes a colourful shelter.

In the coming years, the parts of the HEIMWEEFSEL will be placed in different locations and woven by all kinds of small and large hands. In this way, it will slowly grow into a collectively created village.
The idea comes from visual artists Lotte Boonstra and Sven Roofthooft, who explore “man-made mass” in their work.

HEIMWEEFSEL encourages us to think about the mountain of textiles we consume, but above all invites us to create something new together – a place where you can feel at home.

HEIMWEEFSEL is a colourful meeting place: you can walk through it, hide, talk, build and, of course, weave!
